Amazon Integrates Alexa+ Into Amazon Music App With Smarter Music Discovery Tools

Amazon has started rolling out Alexa+ integration in its Amazon Music app for both iOS and Android. The feature is currently available to users who are part of the Alexa+ Early Access program.

Alexa+ is Amazon’s new generative AI assistant that acts like a conversational music expert. With this update, users can now interact with Alexa+ directly inside the Amazon Music app to explore music in a deeper and more personalized way.

You can ask Alexa+ about almost anything related to music, from the meaning of a song to an artist’s influences or the origin of a sample in a track. It can even tell you about chart rankings, band lineup changes, or artists performing at music festivals.

If you cannot remember a song’s name, Alexa+ can help you find it using vague descriptions. You can describe the song with a few lyrics, mention the movie it appeared in, or refer to an artist, and Alexa+ will try to locate the track for you.

The AI assistant can also create personalized playlists from a single command. Instead of just asking for a genre, you can say something like, “Play a playlist for a Sunday reset,” or “Make a 2010s playlist that starts with a Nicki Minaj song.” Alexa+ understands the mood, activity, and artist references to build a playlist that fits your request, which you can later edit or save.

To try these features, users need to have the latest version of the Amazon Music app and be enrolled in the Alexa+ Early Access program. A new “a” button in the bottom right corner of the app activates the Alexa+ voice assistant.

Amazon introduced Alexa+ in February as part of its push into generative AI. Built on Amazon’s Nova models and Anthropic’s AI technology through Amazon Bedrock, Alexa+ can handle tasks such as managing calendars, summarizing emails, and automating smart home routines.

The company said earlier this year that over a million users had joined the Alexa+ Early Access program. However, the rollout has been gradual, and some users have reported delays and AI errors during interactions.
