Apple is Ending Support for Its Video App, Clips

Apple has quietly ended support for its video creation app, Clips. The app has now been removed from the App Store, and Apple confirmed that it will no longer receive updates.

Apple has also updated the support page, which confirms that Clips is no longer available for new users as of October 10. However, existing users can still use the app on their current or older iOS and iPadOS devices. They can also re-download it from their Apple account if needed.

Apple also advised users to save their Clips videos to the Photos app. Since the app will not get future updates, it might stop working properly over time. Users can then watch or edit those videos using other apps.

Clips was launched back in 2017 as Apple’s answer to the growing trend of short video content. It allowed users to mix photos and videos, add filters, emojis, and background music. It was basically a creative tool to make short, fun videos. It was an easy-to-use video editor, but too basic. So, most users didn’t take an interest in the app. Now that apps like Sora can generate complete videos from text, an app like Clips feels outdated.
