Indian game developer Tathvamasi Studios has unveiled the first look of its upcoming rhythm-based platformer, Suri: The Seventh Note. The game is in development for PS5 and is supported by Sony’s PlayStation India Hero Project, which provides both funding and mentorship for Indian game developers.
Suri: The Seventh Note uniquely combines platforming and rhythm. Players will move through the magical world of Ragamandala, where every step and jump is tied to the beat of the music. The game draws inspiration from well-known platformers like Hollow Knight, Rayman Legends, and Celeste, while adding a distinctly Indian twist through its music and environments.
The game features multiple biomes inspired by regions across India, including the Himalayas, Western Ghats, and Rajasthan. Each environment responds to the rhythm, with moving platforms, waves of lava, and other hazards syncing perfectly to the soundtrack. The music itself is influenced by Indian folk traditions, giving the game a unique cultural flavor.
Players take on the role of a mysterious traveler caught in a conflict between the sacred six Gandharvas, the reigning king, and the force behind the kingdom’s chaotic rhythm. Their mission is to find the prophesied seventh note and restore harmony to Ragamandala.
The game also makes full use of the PS5’s DualSense controller, offering rhythm-based haptics that enhance the gameplay experience. The first look video shows off the game’s vibrant art style, colorful characters, and fluid animations, hinting at a polished and engaging platformer ahead.
Suri: The Seventh Note is set to be one of the most exciting Indian-made games for PS5. It combines music, mythology, and challenging platforming in a way that feels fresh and original.
