OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan called ChatGPT Go. This is the company’s most affordable plan so far and is priced at ₹399 per month. ChatGPT Go is being launched in India first before expanding to other countries.
According to OpenAI, this plan offers 10 times higher usage limits, 10 times more image generations, file uploads, and double the memory compared to the free tier. The company says the move is aimed at increasing its premium subscriber base in India, which is already one of its biggest markets.
With this launch, Indian users will now see subscription prices in Indian Rupees and can pay directly using UPI. Along with ChatGPT Go, users can also purchase ChatGPT Plus for ₹1,999 per month and ChatGPT Pro for ₹19,900 per month.
Nick Turley, Head of ChatGPT, announced the plan on X, stating that OpenAI will learn from user feedback in India before taking ChatGPT Go to other countries.
While OpenAI has not revealed exact usage limits, it has confirmed that Go users will get much higher message allowances compared to free users. Currently, free users get:
- 10 messages to GPT-5 standard model every 5 hours
- 1 message to GPT-5 Thinking model per day
Based on the 10x upgrade mentioned, ChatGPT Go users may get 100 messages per 5 hours to GPT-5 standard and 10 messages per day to GPT-5 Thinking. However, OpenAI has clarified that limits could vary depending on system conditions.
The company also highlighted that Go users will have access to advanced data analysis tools, projects, tasks, and custom GPTs.
Despite the boost in usage, ChatGPT Go does not include all premium features. The four personalities: Cynic, Robot, Listener, and Nerd, introduced with GPT-5 will remain exclusive to Plus, Pro, Team, and Enterprise users.
It also looks like ChatGPT Go subscribers will not get access to the GPT-4o model, which OpenAI recently reinstated for paid users after removing it temporarily.
India is OpenAI’s second-largest market in terms of user base, but most users still rely on the free tier. By introducing an affordable plan at ₹399, OpenAI is targeting a wider audience that may not be ready to pay for Plus or Pro but still wants more power and flexibility than the free version.
