Microsoft has now joined the exclusive $4 trillion club and has become the second company ever to reach this milestone after Nvidia. Following these results, Microsoft’s shares jumped over 4.5%, with gains going as high as 8% during trading.

The company reported huge growth in its Azure cloud business and announced that its AI-powered Copilot tools now have over 100 million monthly active users. This shows that Microsoft’s investment in AI is working.

Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI is one of the main reasons behind this success by integrating ChatGPT-like features into tools like Office and Azure, the company is staying relevant and future-ready.

Microsoft also said it will spend a record $30 billion in capital expenditure this quarter. This money will mostly go into cloud infrastructure and AI to help the company stay ahead of the competition.

Microsoft first reached $1 trillion market value in 2019. It took a steady path to $3 trillion and now $4 trillion. In comparison, Nvidia hit the $4 trillion mark much faster, thanks to its dominance in AI chips. Nvidia is now worth $4.4 trillion, which makes it the most valuable company in the world.
