OnePlus has launched its latest Nord smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 5, in India. The phone was unveiled during the company’s Summer Launch event, as promised. It brings several upgrades over its predecessor and aims to offer flagship-like performance at a mid-range price.
The OnePlus Nord 5 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz variable refresh rate. It supports up to 1800 nits peak brightness, 3840Hz PWM dimming, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. OnePlus says the phone can handle 144 FPS gaming for up to five hours on popular games like BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Free Fire. It also has a large 7300mm² vapor chamber cooling system, with a total heat dissipation area of 32,207mm².
The device runs Android 15 with OxygenOS 15 on top. OnePlus has promised 4 years of Android OS updates and 6 years of security updates. The phone also includes Google Gemini integration, and eligible users will get 3 months of Google AI Pro for free.
The phone also features Plus key that was introduced with OnePlus 13s. This customizable button aims to provide quick access to sound profiles (Sound, Vibration, and Do Not Disturb), AI tools, and other user-defined functions.
The OnePlus Nord 5 features a 50MP main camera with Sony LYT-700 sensor and OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. For the first time in the Nord series, the phone includes a 50MP front camera with 4K 60fps video support.
Connectivity options are 5G SA/ NSA Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.4, Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0. The phone also ahs an in-display fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor.
It packs a massive 6800mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. The company claims it can charge to 100% in under an hour. The phone also includes bypass charging to reduce heat during gaming. It has IP65 dust and water resistance.
