MediaTek has just unveiled its latest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9400e, and it is already making headlines. This upgraded version of last year’s Dimensity 9300+ was introduced at the OnePlus Game Strategic Communication Conference in China. And yes, OnePlus will be the first to use it—in the upcoming OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition launching next week in China.
Dimensity 9400e is built on TSMC’s third-gen 4nm process and sticks to MediaTek’s usual high-performance formula. It packs a powerful CPU setup:
- 1 Cortex-X4 prime core running at 3.4GHz
- 3 Cortex-X4 performance cores at 2.85GHz
- 4 Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0GHz
This setup is designed for serious multitasking, gaming, and performance-heavy apps.
On the graphics side, the 9400e features a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU, with support for hardware ray tracing and other advanced graphics technologies. MediaTek’s Star Speed Engine Adaptive Control 2.0 and Frame Double Technology 2.0+ are also part of the package, promising smoother frame rates and more stable gaming.
MediaTek is also pushing hard on AI. The chipset supports the company’s APU 790, which is capable of running popular large language models (LLMs) like DeepSeek-R1-Distill and LLaVA-1.5 7B directly on the device. That means better AI-powered features without relying too much on the cloud.
In simpler terms, phones with this chip should be smarter, more responsive, and better at handling generative AI tasks like voice assistants, translations, and on-device summaries.
The Dimensity 9400e supports everything you would expect in a flagship chip:
- Up to 320MP cameras with Imagiq 990 ISP
- 4K at 120Hz or WQHD at 180Hz display support
- Wi-Fi 7 with speeds up to 7.3Gbps
- Bluetooth 6.0 with extended range (up to 5km in line-of-sight)
- LPDDR5T memory up to 9600Mbps and UFS 4.0 storage
It also brings full support for all 5G modes, dual SIM dual active, and a long list of global navigation systems like GPS, NavIC, and BeiDou.

OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition – First to Feature It
The OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition will be the first phone to come powered by the Dimensity 9400e. OnePlus claims this phone will set a new benchmark for mobile gaming, thanks to its in-house Fengchi Gaming Kernel. According to the company, this combination allows it to hit the highest average frame rates and the best 1% low frame rate stability—a big claim for mobile gamers.
Realme is also expected to use the same chip in its upcoming Realme Neo7 Turbo, which is also launching this month.
