Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Are Coming to India and More Countries

Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses

Meta has announced that the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are coming soon to India, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. These glasses are already popular in other markets, and now more people will get the chance to experience them. With these AI-powered glasses, you can get help, find inspiration, and stay connected, all without touching your phone.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses come with built-in Meta AI. This allows you to ask questions and get answers in real time. You can also receive useful recommendations or even get ideas for creative writing. Since they are smart glasses, you can wear them like regular sunglasses and still use all the features without needing to look at your phone.

They are perfect for staying present with your surroundings. Whether you are with friends or walking in a park, you can take pictures, record moments, or listen to music—all while keeping your phone in your pocket.

These new glasses are the next step after Ray-Ban Stories, which were released in 2021. The latest version was launched in partnership with EssilorLuxottica in September 2023. Now, Meta is bringing even more updates and features to make the glasses smarter and more helpful.

As we move from spring to summer, it is the best time to wear stylish sunglasses. Meta is adding new looks with expanded frame and lens options. The new Skyler Shiny Chalky Gray frame comes with Transitions® Sapphire lenses. This combo is great for both indoor and outdoor use and offers a pop of color with a sleek design. If you prefer a more classic look, the Skyler frame is also available in Shiny Black with G15 Green lenses or with clear lenses.

One of the most exciting features now rolling out globally is live translation. This feature was first available in a few countries but is now expanding to all supported regions. You can now have smooth conversations in English, French, Spanish, or Italian—even if you do not have internet access, as long as you download the language packs in advance.

If you are speaking with someone in another language, the glasses will translate what they say and read it to you in your preferred language. The translated text will also appear on your phone. You can start this by saying, “Hey Meta, start live translation.”

Soon, you will also be able to send and receive direct messages, photos, and even audio and video calls on Instagram using your Ray-Ban Meta glasses. This is in addition to existing support for WhatsApp, Messenger, and your phone’s native messaging apps. You can simply say something like, “Hey Meta, send a message to Lisa on Instagram,” and the glasses will do it for you.

If you love music, there is good news. Support for popular music apps like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Shazam is expanding beyond the United States and Canada. You can ask Meta AI to play your favorite songs or tell you more about the music you are listening to.

Want to know the name of a song? Just say, “Hey Meta, what’s the name of this song?” Or ask, “When did this album come out?”

A new feature is also coming soon to users in the US and Canada. Meta AI on the glasses will be able to see what you see and have natural conversations based on that. For example, if you are cooking and realize you are out of butter, you can ask Meta AI for a substitute. You can also ask which wine pairs well with your meal by showing it to your wine rack.

Even better, you do not need to say “Hey Meta” every time. Once the conversation starts, it will feel more natural and flow like a regular chat.

Meta AI on the Ray-Ban Meta glasses is also expanding to more countries in Europe. Soon, users across the EU will be able to ask Meta AI about what they are looking at and receive real-time answers. This feature just launched in the UK and has already received great feedback.

In the US, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are priced starting at $299 to $379, depending on the lens and frame you choose. That is roughly ₹25,000 to ₹32,000 when converted directly.

However, in India, we should expect a higher price due to several factors:

  • Import duties and GST: India has high import taxes on electronics and wearables.
  • Shipping and logistics costs
  • Brand pricing and retail margins

So, when the Ray-Ban Meta glasses launch in India, the expected price could range between ₹34,000 to ₹42,000, depending on the model and features. Premium versions with transition lenses or clear lens combos might even go beyond that.

If Meta partners with local retailers or sells through online platforms like Amazon or Flipkart, it might offer discounts or EMI options. But still, these glasses will be in the premium price range. Mostly early adopters, tech lovers, and those who value fashion and smart features combined could be it potential customers in the country.
