Microsoft has officially launched a native macOS app for its AI assistant, Copilot. The app provides easy access to Copilot for Mac users without relying on a web browser. The app is now available in the US, the UK, and Canada.
Copilot app for macOS brings the same core functionalities as the web version. However, it also comes with a few Mac-friendly features. The most notable addition is a keyboard shortcut (Command + Space) that lets users quickly activate Copilot. The app also supports dark mode.
Users will be able to sign up using Apple ID. The app also allows users to upload text or PDF files to ask questions about the file.
Microsoft is trying hard to expand Copilot’s accessibility. It recently introduced the Voice and Think Deeper feature that uses OpenAI’s latest model, o1. This feature will be available to all users for free.
As opposed to Apple, which normally keeps its services limited to its own Platforms, Microsoft has a long history of brining its services to rival platforms. With Copilot, Microsoft is more aggressive. Copilot is already available on iPhone and iPad, and now, with a macOS app, Microsoft is making sure its AI assistant is easily accessible across Apple devices.
