When the OnePlus 12R was launched, OnePlus claimed UFS 4.0 storage in the 256GB variant of the OnePlus 12R. The official website also said the same. This was interesting and made the 256GB variant much better than the 128GB variant.

However, the company has now updated the specs page of the OnePlus 12R on its website and sent emails to media confirming the UFS 3.1 storage in all versions of the OnePlus 12R. OnePus also wrote a community post confirming the same.

The phone went on sale on February 6. All the reviewers also mentioned UFS 4.0 in 256GB variants. Now consider the frustration of consumers who bought the 256GB variant of the phone considering UFS 4.0 storage. This is a clear injustice to consumers who already bought the phone. The company didn’t clarify until the sale began.

UFS 4.0 is a big deal in a smartphone. It offers nearly double the read and write speeds as compared to UFS 3.1. So, there will be a noticeable performance boost if the phone has UFS 4.0. I have already written a detailed article comprising UFS 4.0 and UFS 3.1

What are your thoughts on this matter? Was it a mistake or did the company do it for the purpose of boosting the sale of the 256GB variant? Why did the company wait until the sales began? Let me know your thoughts in the comments
