A few days ago, OnePlus confirmed that all versions of the OnePlus 12R, including the 256GB model, come with UFS 3.1 storage, not UFS 4.0. It admitted its mistake and also apologized for it. However several users who purchased the 256GB variant to get the benefits of faster storage were unhappy. So, the company has now decided to refund customers who want to return the device for storage issues.

OnePlus 12R 256GB customers can discuss the issue with the Customer Service team and take full refunds until 16th March 2024. OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu has confirmed it via a community post.

It is good to see OnePlus trying to help unsatisfied customers. The mistake it made was not small. UFS 4.0 storage offers nearly double the read and write speeds compared to UFS 3.1. So, the performance difference between the 128GB and 256GB should be noticeable. This was the reason several people preferred buying the 256GB variant over the 128GB variant.
