HMD Global has confirmed that it will soon launch HMD-branded phones. The company is also expected to launch other products such as tablets and wireless earbuds under its own brand. We may see HMD-branded products at MWC Barcelona later this month.

While initial reports claim that HMD will discontinue the Nokia brand, the company has now confirmed that HMD and Nokia brands will coexist. HMD Global will continue producing Nokia phones.

Some reports also suggest that the Nokia brand will focus on offline markets offering a premium experience at an aggressive pricing. HMD also says that it will not launch any Nokia phones with a price tag exceeding Rs. 40000. HMD-branded phones will target the online market with a focus on affordable devices.

HMD also plans to open service centers for the HMD brand to ensure good after-sales service. This also shows that HMD Global is serious about the HMD brand.

The company has renamed the social handles and website of Nokia to Human Mobile Device (HMD). This suggests that the Nokia brand will coexist until the HMD brand becomes a recognized brand. After that, the company could discontinue the Nokia brand. HMD Global has a license to the Nokia brand until 2026. I don’t think HMD will renew the licensing deal If the HMD brand manages to make an impact in the market.
