Minecraft is known as the best-selling video game of all time. Today, the game has surpassed another sales milestone. It has sold over a staggering 300 million copies. Mojang Studios confirmed the numbers during the Minecraft Live 2020 event.

“As we approach the 15th anniversary, Minecraft remains one of the best-selling games of all time, with over 300 million copies sold, a milestone no one could have dreamed of when we were all placing our first blocks,” Helen Chiang, head of Mojang Studios, said in a statement.

The game surpassed 200 million milestone back in 2020. The second best-selling game is Grand Theft Auto V which has sold over 185 million copies. This shows how popular Minecraft is. It also became the most popular game ever on YouTube back in 2021 with over 1 Trillion views.

Minecraft is a 3D sandbox game that was initially released back in 2009 by game developer Markus Persson. The game was later released in alpha and beta updates in 2010 under his new company, Mojang. It was officially released in late 2011. Minecraft is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. It is also available for VR.
