Brave is also jumping on the AI assistant bandwagon. The company has developed its own native AI assistant called ‘Leo’ for the browser. Brave has also started testing Brave in the Nightly desktop channel starting with version 1.59.

Leo AI assistant lets users interact with web pages. Users can ask for video transcripts or interactive article summaries. The AI assistant also supports follow-up questions and can answer the same way other AI-powered chatbots do.

Brave Leo AI Assistant is hosted by Brave. The AI assistant doesn’t use any third-party AI services for it. The company has used Llama 2, a source-available large language model released by Meta. The company has confirmed that user inputs are always anonymous. So, users don’t need to worry about privacy.

The company doesn’t ask users for login for using Neo. Brave also doesn’t use user chats with Leo for training purposes. Chats are also not persistent. So, there is no way users can review past conversations. For now, Leo doesn’t have access to live information. But the company plans to offer a version with access to current information powered by Brave search.

Leo is now available with Brave Nightly build starting today. Download it from the official website. Nightly desktop users can access Leo via Brave Leo icon button in the Brave Sidebar.
