In just seven hours after the launch, Instagram’s Twitter rival has already surpassed 10 million users. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the milestone on his Threads account.
Threads is now available in more than 100 countries. Getting users on a new app is not easy, but Instagram has made it really easy to get started with Threads using your Instagram account. Instagram is also doing cross-promotion to encourage Instagram users on Threads. You can sign up via your Instagram account and it uses the same username and public name in Threads accounts. It also lets you import your bio and profile photo directly from Instagram.
Threads looks similar to Twitter. Users can write a new Thread with text, photo, or video. Other users can like, reply or rethread. A thread has 500 characters limit and can include videos up to 5 minutes long.
Most notable thing about Threads is that it carries the verification badge of Instagram on Threads. If you have a verification badge on Instagram, you will automatically get the same verification badge on Threads.
Back in 2019, Instagram launched a standalone messaging app Threads to stay in touch with their Instagram friends. But this app was closed in December 2021. Now the company has relaunched Threads as a Twitter alternative.
