Betterhalf Raises $8.5 Million In Series A Round Of Funding

Matrimony platform Betterhalf has raised $8.5 million in a series A funding from FinSight Ventures, Rebel Fund, and Nurture Ventures. Angel investors Mike Krieger (co-founder of Instagram), Arash Ferdowsi (co-founder of Dropbox), Derek Callow (former Bumble CMO), and Brendan O’Driscoll (former product head at Spotify) also participated in this round.

Betterhalf was founded back in 2016 and targets the urban population. It claims to have a US-patented technology for matching user profiles. The company also boasts to use AI based on relationship data of couples worldwide.

Betterhalf was founded by Pawan Gupta back in 2016 and the company raised $3 million in a Pre-Series A round in 2021 from S2 Capital and Quiet Capital. The company claims to record a 17% month-on-month revenue and a three-fold rise in its overall number of users in the last nine months.

India’s online matrimonial services had a revenue of around $260 Million in 2022, that’s 2.4X up as compared to $110 Million in 2017.
