Baidu Unveils AI-Powered Ernie Bot

Chinese search engine giant Baidu has also jumped into the AI chatbot segment with the launch of Ernie Bot. Ernie Bot is an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot similar o ChatGPT and Bard. The company confirmed that Ernie Bot is not perfect but it is being launched due to the increasing market demand.

“For sure we cannot say that it’s perfect,” said Baidu CEO Robin Li, presenting Ernie Bot. “So why are we unveiling it today? Because the market demands it.”

During the launch presentation, the company played pre-recorded videos. The Ernie Bot was answering questions on a popular Chinese science fiction novel and was doing mathematical calculations.

Baidu has invested many Yeats in the R&D of artificial intelligence and deep learning. As per the data available, the company had invested CNY 21.4 billion in R&D in 202.

Starting today, Ernie Bot will be available to an initial group of users with invitation codes. Other companies can also integrate Ernie Bot into their products via Baidu’s cloud platform. The company also confirmed that Chinese state media outlets and a Shaolin temple were the first few companies who have signed up to become Ernie Bot partners.
