Elon Musk now owns Twitter, the popular microblogging platform. Before completing this acquisition, Elon hinted at several things he wanted to change on Twitter. Now that he owns Twitter, the first change Elon is doing is to introduce paid verification on Twitter.

As per a report on The Verge, Twitter will soon increase the price of Twitter Blue subscription with some additional features. The company is planning to increase the price to $19.99 for the Twitter Blue subscription. Verified users need to get a Twitter Blue subscription within 90 days or lose their blue checkmark.

Elon Musk also tweeted to confirm that the verification process is being revamped.

A report by Casey Newton of the Platformer also suggests that Twitter users have given a week to make these changes or they will be shown the door. If this is true, the Twitter Blue subscription will change on November 7.

Twitter Blue is a paid monthly subscription service that offers premium features to improve the Twitter experience. Twitter Blue subscribers get ad-free articles, a Bookmark folder, custom app icons, themes, custom navigation, undo tweet, edit tweet, top, articles, and readers mode. The subscription service is available as an in-app purchase on Twitter for iOS and Android.

Reports also claim that Elon is planning mass layoffs. Middle managers and engineers who have not recently contributed to the code base are at risk of losing their job. Soon after taking charge of Twitter, Elon fired some key Twitter executives including CEO Parag Agarwal, CFO Ned Segal, CCO Sarah Personette, Legal Head Vijaya Gadde, and General Counsel Sean Edgett. Now a few Twitter employees may lose their jobs.

Twitter has already changed the home page for logged-out users. Now Twitter shows Explore page with trending tweets and news stories to people who are not logged in. Before this change, Twitter used to show only a sign-up form.
