Snapchat has introduced a new Director Mode that brings more advanced video editing tools for creators. Director Mode includes several video editing tools some of which are already available on other short video apps such as TikTok. Directors Mode on Snapchat is now available starting today for Android and iOS.
Director mode includes Green screen video editing that lets users record videos with any custom background. It also brings a dual camera that is already available in Snapchat for iOS. Other notable tools include trimming and splicing multiple videos along with a camera speed feature to speed up or slow down videos.
In the Snapchat app, you will find the Director Mode in the main camera toolbar. Tapping on the Director Mode icon will bring all the video editing tools including Flip Camera, Sound, Green Screen, Speed, and more.
Snap first previewed Director Mode in April when the company posted a video about it.
The primary aim for bringing Director Mode is to let users create more videos for Spotlight. Other social media apps saw a huge boost in the user engagement and usage time after launching the short videos segment. So, Snap also wants to encourage users to add more content in Spotlight. Snap recently told investors that Spotlight content views have increased by 55% year over year. The company is also reducing the amount it is paying to creators via its Spotlight Fund.
