Samsung has announced a new 200 megapixel ISOCELL HPX sensor in China. This is Samsung’s third 200 MP sensor after ISOCELL HP1 and HP3 sensors. This sensor has a 0.56-micron pixel size and reduces the camera module area by 20%. It could also be used in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung 200MP ISOCELL HPX is the new flagship camera sensor. The sensor also uses Samsung’s Advanced Deep Trench Isolation (DTI) technology to offer better sensitivity for clear and vivid images. It isolates each pixel separately and then uses tetra-pixel technology to combine 16 pixels into one to offer 12.5MP output with 2.24-micron pixels.

The Tetra pixel tech can offer better photos in low light. It will also jowl the sensor to automatically switch between three different lighting modes depending on the light available.

This sensor can record up to 8K video at 30 fps. It also supports dual-HDR shooting in 4K and Full HD models. For offering faster and more precise focus, it uses Super QPD autofocus.

With intelligent ISO Pro technology and single-frame progressive HDR, the sensor captures the shadows and highlights at three different exposures: low, medium, and high. Then it combines three photos to offer high-quality HDR pictures and videos. Samsung claims that this process enables the sensor to render images in more than 4 trillion colors (14-bit color depth).

This sensor could debut with the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra which is likely to launch early next year.
