Cybersecurity researchers discovered a few new malicious apps on the Play Store with 2 million downloads. These apps are infected by adware and information-stealing malware. Once you install any of these malicious apps, the malware will start displaying advertisements and degrade the user experience. It will also drain your phone’s battery faster.

Analysts at Dr. Web antivirus published a detailed report on these malicious apps. Here’s the list of malicious apps they found on the Play Store.

  • PIP Pic Camera Photo Editor – 1 million downloads
  • Wild & Exotic Animal Wallpaper – 500,000 downloads
  • ZodiHoroscope – Fortune Finder – 500,000 downloads
  • PIP Camera 2022 – 50,000 downloads
  • Magnifier Flashlight – 10,000 downloads

All these apps still exist on the Play Store. User reviews confirm that apps are actually giving badly experienced to users.

The report also included 4 other apps: Recovery, Driving Real Race, Компенсация НДС, and Only Fans App OnlyFans Android. But Google has already removed these apps.

If you have any of these apps installed on your phone, remove them right now.

If you use an Android phone, it is recommended to use a good Android antivirus on your phone to keep it safe. You are also advised not to try any random app. Always check user reviews before you install any unknown app. Stop downloading APKs from untrusted sources.
