WhatsApp is finally rolling out multi-device support to all Android users. Until now, the feature was in beta and was only available to users who joined the beta program. With this new feature, users can access WhatsApp on four other devices including desktops and laptops. You also don’t need to have an active internet connection on your phone. You can use your WhatsApp account on up to four linked devices and one phone at a time.
The company has made it clear that your personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted on all devices.
If you link WhatsApp for desktop and start using your WhatsApp account on your phone, you don’t need to keep your phone active. Even if your phone is off, WhatsApp will keep working on the linked device. However, you need to access your WhatsApp account on your primary phone once in 14 days. If you don’t access WhatsApp for 14 days on your phone, all the linked devices will be disconnected.

WhatsApp syncs all the messages across the devices. However, it may fail to syn some older chats in old conversations. It will recommend you check your phone to access the full message history.
Not all features are supported on linked devices. You can not clear or delete chats if your primary device is an iPhone. You also cannot see live locations on linked devices or send broadcast lists. If you have linked WhatsApp web, you cannot send messages with link previews.
