We already know how popular TikTok is. It was the most downloaded app of 2021 even if the app is banned in 2nd most populous country India. Now a report by Cloudflare claims that TikTok has dethroned Google to become the most popular domain globally.

Cloudflare calculates domain ranking based on the aggregated data it has about global Internet traffic. The company has made Cloudflare Radar for Internet trends and insights.

Google.com has been at the top spot based on the internet traffic for years. But TikTok.com came into the picture in late 2021 and managed to beat Google.com. This was the time when TikTok also confirmed to hit 1 billion monthly active users. There were some days when Google.com regained its top spot but TikTok.com was at the top spot in most of the days during the 2nd half of 2021.

Here is the list of the top 10 most popular domains from September to December.

  1. TikTok.com
  2. Google.com
  3. Facebook.com
  4. Microsoft.com
  5. Apple.com
  6. Amazon.com
  7. Netflix.com
  8. YouTube.com
  9. Twitter.com
  10. WhatsApp.com

Last year, TikTok.com was in the 7th spot. Google.com, Facebook.com, and Microsoft.com were at the top 3 places respectively.

Now when Amazon has decided to shut down Alexa.com, Cloudflare Radar will be the tool to check the popularity of domains based on internet traffic.
