Facebook-owned WhatsApp was in trouble earlier this year for its new privacy policy. The company asked users to accept the new privacy policy if they want to keep using the app. After facing criticism, the company delayed the privacy policy. Now WhatsApp has confirmed that it won’t kick users out of the platform even if they don’t accept the new privacy policy. But it will restrict features.

On its FAQ page, the company has detailed all the consequences a user will face for not accepting the new privacy policy.

WhatsApp To Restrict Features

If a user fails to accept the new privacy policy, the app will keep showing a prompt to accept the new terms. Users won’t get access to their chat list. They will still be able to incoming phone and video calls. If notifications if enabled, they can read and respond to messages from notifications.

Further after a few weeks, the user will not be able to receive calls or check messages in notifications. WhatsApp will stop sending messages and calls to your phone.

WhatsApp will not delete your account, but the app will slowly become unusable for you until you accept the new terms. You can export your chats and download a report of your account. To further enable these features, you will have to accept new terms.
