Amazon also introduces lossless music streaming at no extra cost

Around the same time Apple Music introduced lossless music, Amazon also announced to launch Music HD Plan for Music Unlimited subscribers at no extra cost. It is available starting today in the US, UK, Germany, Canada, France, Italy and Spain.

In eligible countries, Music Unlimited members will get access to 70 million HD songs and 7 million Ultra HD songs. The lossless HD songs have a bit depth of 16 bits and a CD quality sample rate of 44.1kHz. The ultra HD songs have a bit depth of 24 bits at 192kHz.

Amazon Music subscribers can enjoy 3D Audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA on their headphones and speakers. Music in 360RA can be streamed on Sony’s RA5000 and RA3000 speakers by using Alexa Cast.

Amazon announced Music HD back in September 2019. Before today, it was priced at $12.99 per month for Amazon Prime subscribers and $14.99 per month for anyone else. Now Amazon is making it available to all new and existing subscribers to the Amazon Music Unlimited Individual Plan or Family Plan at no additional cost. So, a $5 per month savings.
