Publisher Electronic Arts and developer DICE are finally bringing the Battlefield franchise to mobile devices. The game could land on smartphones and tablets by 2022. Industrial Toys will develop the game in a partnership with DICE.

DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson announced the project on Thursday. He also confirmed that it will be a completely new Battlefield game built specifically for smartphones and tablets.

“Make no mistake, this is a standalone game,” Gabrielson said of Battlefield’s mobile debut. “A completely different game from the one we’re making for console and PC, designed specifically for the mobile platform.”

A bit late but finally EA is bringing the popular Battlefield on mobile platforms. We have already seen several AAA titles like Call of Duty and Apex Legends on mobile devices in recent years and these games saw good success.

The next major game in the Battlefield franchise is due in 2021. The most recent Battlefield game “Battlefield 5” was released in 2018 and the story was set in World War II. Before the company releases Battlefield Mobile, we will see Battlefield 6.
