Apple is reportedly investing in Kia motors for its Apple Car

Apple is reportedly investing in Kia motors for its Apple Car

As per reports, Apple is in talks with Kia Motors for a possible partnership for its ambitious Apple Car Project. Apple will partner with South Korean car manufacturer Kia for the production of its electric vehicle Apple Car.

Both the companies could announce their partnership on February 17th. Apple will invest 4 trillion won (Approx. $3.6 billion) to set up production capabilities in the US at the Kia Georgia plant. Kia Motors will be the production partner for the Apple Car that could hit the market in 2024. Kia Georgia facility is expected to produce nearly 100,000 units per year initially.

Representatives from Apple and Kia denied to comment on this report.

Apple is already in talks with Hyundai for the development and design of the Apple Car. The company will be using Hyundai’s E-GMP battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform for Apple Cars.

Apple will be mainly working on the software for making Apple Car an autonomous EV. People who knowledge of the efforts confirmed that Apple isn’t in a hurry with partnership decisions for Apple Car.

After rumors of the Apple and Kia partnership, Kia saw a nearly 14.5 percent jump in share prices.
