ZEE5, a popular streaming app has also launched a new short-video platform called ‘HiPi’. The platform aims t be an Indian alternative to TikTok.
HiPi allows users to create videos of up to 90 seconds. You can add music tracks, filters, and visual effects to make videos better and impressive. The company has already brought over 400 influencers on board to create content on the platform.
It comes as a part of the ZEE5 app. If you already have the ZEE5 app, you just need to check the HiPi section. In the HiPi section, you will find vertical videos. Keep scrolling videos to get video entertainment. You can live videos and follow influencers.
The company claims to bring a variety of content from diverse demographics and geography. Zee5 HiPi will only allow creators of age 18 or above on its platform. It will ask for a date of birth to verify the age, but there is no clarity on how it plans to enforce this rule.
Rajneel Kumar, Business Head of Expansion Projects and Head of Products at Zee5 confirms that the platform had been in development for over a year now and is ready to compete against Bolo Indya, Chingari, Mitron, Roposo, and ShareChat’s Moj. Instagram also added the Reels feature to offer a TikTok alternative.
This feature is available only for Android users. The iOS version is in the works and would come at a later stage.
