TECNO has launched the SPARK 50s 5G in India. The phone targets buyers looking for a smartphone with a large battery, a smooth display, and better connectivity. The new phone also comes with a few features designed to keep users connected in areas with poor network coverage.

The SPARK 50s 5G features a 6.78-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display has a resolution of 720 x 1576 pixels and a peak brightness of 560 nits. The high refresh rate should make scrolling and everyday navigation feel smoother, although the HD+ resolution is a compromise at this price.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, built on a 6nm process. It comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Users can also expand the storage by up to 2TB using a microSD card.

The smartphone runs Android 16 with TECNO’s HiOS 16 interface. It includes Google’s Gemini AI assistant and Circle to Search, which lets users search for information about items, text, and images directly from the screen. The phone also supports AI noise cancellation for clearer voice calls across cellular networks and supported calling apps.

The SPARK 50s 5G has a 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.85 aperture and LED flash. There is an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The phone also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

TECNO says its 4×4 MIMO antenna technology can deliver up to 82% faster download speeds. The actual improvement will depend on network conditions and the carrier being used.

The phone also includes UPS 3.0 technology, which TECNO says can make UPI transactions up to twice as fast under testing conditions. The feature is designed for places where mobile networks are congested, such as crowded markets, basements, and transit hubs.

Other connectivity options include dual SIM support, 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS.

Another feature is FreeLink, which allows users to make voice calls, send text messages, and share images directly between compatible devices without cellular reception or Wi-Fi. TECNO claims it can work over distances of up to 1.5km in clear, line-of-sight conditions. Its usefulness will depend on the surroundings and whether the other device supports the feature.

The phone packs a 6,500mAh battery and supports 45W wired fast charging. The large battery should help users get through long days without frequently reaching for a charger, although actual battery life will depend on usage.

The SPARK 50s 5G also carries an IP64 Pro rating for dust and splash resistance. TECNO says the phone meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards to offer additional protection against everyday drops, vibrations, and harsh environmental conditions. The phone measures 167.9 x 79.3 x 8.18mm and weighs 210 grams.

The TECNO SPARK 50s 5G is priced at Rs. 19,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB RAM model with 128GB storage costs Rs. 22,999. It will be available through offline retail stores across India starting October 20.
