Amazon has rebranded Twitch Prime membership, ‘a premium membership on the Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch’ as Prime Gaming. Prime Gaming will be available to all existing Amazon Prime members for no extra cost. Prime gaming still offers the same benefits that were available with Twitch Prime. The name change is because Prime gaming easily fits alongside Prime Video and Prime Reading.

Amazon first launched Twitch Prime with gaming benefits in 2016. Now after almost 4 years, the company has decided to invest in that name. One of the biggest changes is that now one doesn’t need a Twitch account ID in order to get the gaming benefits.

“Prime Gaming offers members all of the growing gaming benefits they had with Twitch Prime, but now as one of the core entertainment benefits of Prime,” Amazon said in a statement.

Prime members can claim in-game content for Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Online, Apex Legends, FIFA 20, League of Legends, and more than 20 other popular PC, console, and mobile games. There will also be a collection of PC games for free every month for members.

Amazon is also rumored be bring a its own cloud gaming service in future. The project is in development under the codename Project Tempo and may come by next year.
