Back in May, Jio unveiled its video conferencing app JioMeet. Now the app has been finally launched to take on Zoom and Google Meet like video conferencing services.

JioMeet offers unlimited number of free HD (720p) calls to users and supports up to 200 participants on a call. The most notable thing is that there is no time limit on calls. JioMeet calls can be as long as 24 hours. For now, there are no paid plans and we are not sure if the company had plans to bring paid plans later.

The video conferencing platform can also be accessed on desktop along with Android and iOS phones. Everything is absolutely free of cost.

Jio claims the the app comes with enterprise-grade host controls including password protected calls, multi-device login support (up to 5 devices) and ability to share screen. The company also claims that all meetings are “encrypted.”

Other notable features include ability to switch “seemingly” from one device to another, Safe Driving Mode and waiting room.

JioPlatforms has raised more than $15 billion in several deals recently. They already have several digital services apps including JioNews, JioMusic, JioCinema, JioTV, and JioCloud. Now with huge funds in the account, the company is expected to strengthen the apps portfolio and bring Indian apps to a global level.
