LG’s upcoming flagship will be “LG Velvet”

LG has decided to use a new design language for this phone. So, it has also revamped the branding and its upcoming smartphone will be called “LG Velvet.” The company is now moving away from its alphanumeric naming schemes. This phone will be different from previous LG phones in many ways.

LG also explains the reason behind the unique name. “Velvet” is meant to “evoke images of lustrous smoothness and premium softness.” LG unveiled the LG Velvet logo

There will be a “3D arc design” with curved glass on the front and back. The phone instantly attracts attention due to the “raindrop” camera design. Available images show three lenses at the top left corner and these lenses descend by size that looks like falling raindrops.

“Our new branding reflects current trends of addressing the unique personal tastes and emotions of the individual with a greater emphasis on design,” said Chang Ma, senior vice president of product strategy of LG’s mobile business, in a statement.

Rumors suggest that LG could announce this phone officially on May 15. Some reports also claim that Velvet will be replacing G-series but we do not have any details regarding the pricing or specs. Some reports suggest that the phone will come with Snapdragon 765 with 5G.

LG has confirmed that it will be using more familiar and expressive names of smartphones in the future.

LG’s mobile division has been struggling for a long time. Both flagship G series and V series are struggling. If LG really wants a comeback, it should now focus on adopting aggressive pricing strategy similar to OnePlus.
