Instagram has quietly rolled out Live stream Instagram feeds on the web. Earlier, you needed to use smartphone to watch live Instagram videos.
Watching live Instagram videos on the web have one advantage. It keeps comments separate from the video. So, text comments won’t interrupt your video experience.
I tried checking this on my browser but couldn’t get the live section on my Instagram for the web. It seems this is a limited rollout or they are rolling it out gradually and it may take a few days to reach all users.
There is no option to start a live broadcast from the desktop. If you want to go live on Instagram, you still need to use your phone.

This silent rollout came the next day after the company added Direct messaging for the web to all users. Now users can also watch live videos. When they are at home, the laptop can offer a complete Instagram experience.
