WhatsApp is now an important part of our daily life. Mark Zuckerberg knew that the app is gonna rule and acquired the app in 2014 for 19 billion. Even if the app is not generating revenue for the company, the app is crossing milestones year by year. Now the popular messaging app WhatsApp now has more than 2 billion users globally.

The company announced the milestone via a blog post that details how the use of WhatsApp is safe and private.

“We know that the more we connect, the more we have to protect. As we conduct more of our lives online, protecting our conversations is more important than ever,” the blog post reads.

When 2020 began, people sent over 100 billion private messages in just 24 hours. That shows how people are addicted to WhatsApp. The app lets people connect, talk and share special moments using WhatsApp status.

Starting with just text conversations, the app now lets people share photos, documents, and locations. You can also make audio and video calls. Everything you send on WhatsApp is safe with end-to-end encryption.

The company also recently got approval from NPCI to start a payment service. So, we can expect the launch of WhatsApp pay in the coming months.
