Spotify came to the Indian market earlier this year and also recently launched Spotify Lite app for low-end smartphones. Now the company has announced the support for Google Assistant on India.

With Google Assistant support, Spotify users can now use Google Assistant voice commands to control songs on Spotify. If you have Google Home, you can ask it to play a song on Spotify.

Both free and premium Spotify users can enjoy the Google Assistant support across devices including Android smartphones, Google Home, Android TV, and Chromecast.

If you are not sure how to set up your Spotify account to use with Google Assistant, open Google Home app. Now navigate to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Accounts.’ Here select ‘Spotify’ and you will be required to link account. Log in to Spotify and your account will be linked to your Google Home.

Now say “Ok Google, play ‘song name’ from Spotify”. Your phone or Google Home will play the song on Spotify.

It is also worth to note that Spotify has also ben integrated with Google Maps to ensure that Divers don’t have to switch between two apps. Spotify had already integrated its service with PlayStation Music on PS3 and PS4 in India. It shows that Spotify is really aggressive for Indian market where Gaana.com, Jio Saavn and Amazon music are already doing well. YouTube Music is also a new competitor in the same segment.
