At its I/O developer conference, Google demonstrated something people have been just dreaming to have. Google Assistant will now be ale to make calls to make a reservation or book and appointment at places where they don’t take bookings online.

Google has demonstrated a video showing how Assistant talks to a real person and discuss the suitable time slot for booking.

The Assistant was talking just like a real person making it hard to differentiate if you are talking to Assistant or a real person. Assistant also handles conversations gracefully.

Google calls this feature “Duplex”.

In the second conversation, Google Assistant was smart enough to understand the lines that were open to interpretation. It was able to navigate politely through a conversation without being confused where it could be.

It is still worth to note that Google demonstrated two of the phone calls that went quite well. There could be several failed attempts. There are also chances that Google has fudged this demo a bit. So, we will have to wait and see how it will exactly work. Google is not rolling out this instantly. So, Google still got time to make it even better.
