As expected, Vivo just unveiled world’s first smartphone with in-display fingerprint scanner based on the ultrasonic sensor. It initially showcased this phone back in June 2017 Shanghai at MWC 2017. At CES 2018, it fulfilled its promise.

The phone uses an optical fingerprint sensor from Synaptics. The in-sensor fingerprint sensor will be placed between the mainboard and the OLED panel. Users just need to tap on display and it recognizes smartphone through one-touch fingerprint scanning directly on the smartphone display. So, there is no need for a physical button.

The phone is developed with thin-bezel and display offers 18:9 aspect ratio. The company has confirmed the same level of security that we saw in flagship phones.

Vivo has also issued a press statement confirming the possible launch in Vivo’s phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The phone is now ready for mass production and it should be officially announced on January 10. We are also waiting to know the name of this phone.

At the time when Face recognition technology is replacing the fingerprint sensor, Vivo wants to revolutionize the fingerprint sensor again. It is notable that in-display fingerprint sensor will surely affect the thickness phone.
