Xiaomi India to launch ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ on November 30

Desh Ka Smartphone

Last week, Manu Jain tweeted a photo from a village and told us that the Xiaomi India is planning a product that could help out people living in the rural areas. Now the company has announced the scheduled launch of a new smartphone with the tagline “Desh Ka Smartphone”. XIaomi India will launch a new Redmi Phone on November 30.

We have no details of the phone, so we can only make guesses. I think the phone will be a sub Rs. 5000 phone to give first-time smartphone Buyers a cheaper option.

Xiaomi confirmed the new phone via Redmi India’s twitter handle. So, we know that the phone will join its budget Redmi series. It could be Xiaomi Redmi 5A, the successor of budget phone Redmi 4A. The Redmi 4A comes for Rs. 5999. When Xiaomi India is talking about ‘Desi ka smartphone,’ the price should be lower.

Recently Airtel partnered with Karbonn, Micromax, and Celkon. We can also expect Xiaomi India to join this initiative of Airtel or bring something similar. There could also be a smartphone in partnership with Jio to offer data for Xiaomi’s Low-budget phone.

Xiaomi is currently the number 1 smartphone brand in India with the market and sharing the top spot with Samsung. After achieving the top spot, Xiaomi India is now excited to bring more affordable devices and capture the offline market as well. Xiaomi’s recent expansion of offline sales with Mi Home and partnerships with offline retail store chains including Big Bazaar helped it a lot.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is the best selling smartphone in India of 2017. Other phones including Redmi 4 and Mi A1 also did well for the company. Earlier this week, the company also announced its new manufacturing unit in Noida to assemble Power Banks in India. Power Banks from Xiaomi tops the market with high demand.

So, it is the right time for Xiaomi to expand in the segment for first-time phone buyers and reach to rural India.
