Samsung has just launched a smart tag Samsung Connect that users NB-IoT network. It syncs GPS, and WPS, or Wi-Fi position system data. So, it can be used to track pets, children, and personal items.

The device has horizontal/vertical of 4.21cm and 1.19cm thickness. It is IP68 water- and dust-proof. You just need to attach it to the thing you want to track.

It can receive accurate location information both indoors and outdoors. You can also create a virtual zone and set an alert to know when the object, pet or kids leave that virtual zone.

You just need to press a button on a smartphone to know the location of the thing you added the tag. It comes with an exclusive ring that easily attaches to bags, collars or key rings. The battery of the tag lasts for up to seven days on a single charge.

NB-IoT is deemed more power-efficient compared to cellular IoT. It is cheaper but with wider coverage. In South Korea, the tag will use mobile carrier KT’s nationwide NB-IoT network that completed the deployment in July.

Samsung will also showcase this tag at Samsung Developer Conference 2017 on October 18-19 at Moscone Center in San Francisco.
