When Reliance announced its VoLTE feature phone, JioPhone, everyone became excited to book this effectively free phone. But there were few things that company didn’t confirm to customers at the time of the announcement.

Now we have few new information that you need to know about JioPhone. As we all know, there is nothing for free. Now we know why JioPhone was effectively free. There are few terms and conditions.

Reliance has clarified that you need to spend at least Rs. 1500 per year for three years. So, you will have to spend at least Rs. 4500 a year to keep using JioPhone.

It will attract penalty charges if returned before 36 months. So, you also need to keep it with you for at least 3 years if you do not want to pay penalty charges.

If you return the phone in less than 12 months, you will have to pay Rs. 1500. If you return after 12 months and before 24 months, you will have to pay Rs. 1000. If you return after 24 months and before 36 months, you will have to pay Rs. 500. You will also be charged extra GST in penalty amount. If you return after 36 months, you will get full Rs. 1500 refund.

If you want to return the device to get your security deposit, you need to return before the expiry of thirty-nine months. The phone should not be damaged and should be in working condition.

The company also said that you cannot sell it to anyone. If you want your deposit back, you will have to return JioPhone by yourself.
