Last month, Google confirmed a new tool for data backup and sync. Now, the company has released this tool for Windows and Mac platforms.

This new tool replaces the existing Google Photos desktop uploader and Google Drive apps for Mac and Windows. You just need to choose the folder you want to backup and it will do the rest.

” It’s a simpler, speedier and more reliable way to protect the files and photos that mean the most to you. This new tool replaces the existing Google Photos desktop uploader and Drive for Mac/PC,” says Google.

You can use this tool to backup your data, photos of connected devices like camera or SD cards. You can even backup your entire computer. The data can be downloaded anytime from Google Photos and Google Drive.

It is worth to note that you only get 15GB storage with free Drive account. So, you can only back data of this size. If you want to use more space, you can always buy it.

This tool aims consumers only. If you are a business user, you need to stick to Drive app for now. Google will release something for them later.
