Recently, Lenovo confirms the upcoming launch if its ZuK Z1 smartphone. This phone will be launched today in India with Cyanogen OS out-of- the-box. It gave birth to  discussions about the future of Yu’s exclusive partnership with Cyanogen. Finally, Rahul Sharma, the CEO of YU Televentures has confirmed the end of the exclusive deal between YU Televentures and Cyanogen Inc.

Rahul Sharma confirmed that Cynanogen OS failed to get any traction with YU smartphones. Due to lots of bugs, users hated this. In oppose to this, Yu Yunique smartphone, which was launched running near-stock Android 5.1 Lollipop OS received good response from users. So, company decided not to go with this exclusive partnership

While company will be ending this exclusive partnership, existing YU mobiles running on Cynanogen OS will get proper support from company.

Cyanogen and YU Televentures signed an exclusive partnership back in November 2014. This partnership gave Yu Televentures exclusive access to Cynanogen OS in India. This partnership also created trouble for OnePlus and company couldn’t launch its OnePlus One in India properly. It also had to move away from Cynanogen OS. OnePlus also launched its own Android-based Oxygen OS to avoid any future dependency for software things.

YU Televentures is also gearing to launch its next flagship device later this month. We can expect that device to come with stock Android with few customizations.

We are also looking to the launch of Zuk Z1 in India. It will be interesting to see how Lenovo managed to attract customers for this device because Yu already failed to impress customers.
