DataWind Beats Samsung to lead tablets Sales in India

Low-cost tablet maker DataWind has emerged as the tough competitor to Samsung in Tablet market. During the fourth quarter of 2015, it sold more tablets than Samsung and other market players. According to research firm IDC, DataWind was responsible for 20.7% tablet sales during the Q4, 2015 while Samsung only saw 15.8% market share.

If you just consider the tablet sales for sub-Rs. 500 tablet segment, DataWind holds 58% market share. Comparing it to the same time frame of 2014, DataWind managed to double the sales.DataWind Beats Samsung to lead tablets Sales in India

It is worth to mention that other top players saw shipment decline in this quarter while DataWind managed to record 8.2% growth. Samsung, Micromax and iBall saw the decline of 8.7%, 45.2%, and 24.1%, respectively. Lenovo also saw growth of 5.7% in its tablet section and managed to achieve 13.8% market share. It is the highest ever vendor share for Lenovo in Indian market.

While the overall tablet market in India declined by 18.7%, DataWind surprises us with its amazing growth. While other key players are struggling, DataWind is quietly targeting the right consumers. It is only focusing the low-cost tablet market and managed to score top stop.

DataWind can also expect the same growth this year. While people prefer detachable laptops if they can pay high. Otherwise, people do not want to pay more and go with an entry-level tablet. Being key player in low-cost tablet section, DataWind is seeing good sales. 

DataWind devices also come bundled with one year of unlimited Internet access. This is another big advantage of selecting Datawind. The Company also claims that its patented technology reduces up to 97% the amount of data needed for web browsing.
