Airtel is making international roaming a built-in benefit of its new postpaid plans. Starting October 8, Airtel postpaid customers will get one free international roaming trip every year, with the benefit available separately for every SIM on family plans.
The complimentary roaming pack includes 5GB of data, 60 minutes of calls and 25 outgoing SMS, along with free incoming SMS. The pack remains valid for five days, but customers can activate it whenever they actually need it instead of having to activate it before travelling.
This means a family with multiple Airtel postpaid connections can use the roaming benefit individually. For example, both members on the ₹749 family plan get one free international roaming trip each year. The same applies to all five members on the ₹1,799 family plan.
The new roaming benefit is available across Airtel’s new postpaid plans, starting at ₹499 per month for an individual connection. Airtel is also offering four family plans priced at ₹749, ₹1,049, ₹1,249, ₹1,449 and ₹1,799 per month.
The ₹749 plan supports two SIMs, while the ₹1,049 and ₹1,249 plans support three and four SIMs respectively. The ₹1,449 plan also supports four SIMs, while the ₹1,799 plan supports five SIMs. Each SIM gets one free international roaming trip per year.
The roaming benefit is part of a wider package of services included with these plans. All the new plans offer unlimited data and calling, along with Airtel’s spam and fraud protection features.
Airtel is also bundling different entertainment and cloud services depending on the plan. The ₹499 plan includes Xstream Play Premium and Google One. The ₹749 plan adds Amazon Prime and JioHotstar, while the ₹1,049 and ₹1,249 plans also include Apple iCloud+ and Apple Music.
The higher-end plans add Netflix. The ₹1,449 plan includes Netflix Basic, while the ₹1,799 plan gets Netflix Standard along with the other bundled services.
Airtel says its postpaid customers will also get access to Fast Lane technology on 5G and other benefits through the Airtel Postpaid Advantage Club, including access to events and entertainment experiences.
The new plans will be available from October 8. Existing Airtel customers can upgrade through the Airtel App or by visiting an Airtel store. Customers using Airtel prepaid can also move to postpaid through the same channels, while customers on other networks can switch to Airtel Postpaid by submitting a switching request.
