Tinder sees 400% increase in download in India; Women are more active

Popular dating app Tinder has confirmed the increment of 400% in downloads in India over the past year. Tinder also disclosed that women are responsible for this sudden growth in country. Women are more active on Tinder as compared to men.

Tinder didn’t disclose more details and breakdown of stats. So, we cannot confirm how many male or female use Tinder in India. India has favourable demographics for Tinder because more than 50% of the population is said to be under 35. So, company can target these youths to use its dating app. 90 percent of its users in the India are between the age groups of 18 to 34. Of course this is the age range who will take interest in dating.

In a statement, Tinder’s India head Taru Kapoor said: “We are truly excited about the rapid adoption of Tinder in India…women particularly seem to love Tinder, sending more Super Likes than men each week, which is incredibly empowering.”

Taru also confirmed that in-app conversation in India lasts longer than any other country. Indians are also sending 1 million ‘Super Likes’ every week. Even in this, women are more active in sending ‘Super Likes’ than men.

It is worth to note that Match Group, parent company of Tinder, went public few days back. It confirmed to have around 9.6 million active users with average use time of 35 minutes globally.

If we talk about more global stats, Tinder claims to generate 26 million matches each day globally. It has so far made over 10 billion matches since its launch. Tinder is available in 196 countries and offers content in 30 languages.
