Many times Xiaomi has been accused of copying Apple or following the footprints of Apple. Now, there is another reason to think the same. Xiaomi is quietly working on laptops which will be launched by next year. With this laptop, Xiaomi is aiming to take on Apple’s Macbook series of notebooks.

Xiaomi is working with ODM partners Inventec and Foxconn Electronics for the manufacturing of these laptops. Samsung also held initial talks with Samsung Electronics to supply memory chips.

Xiaomi will follow the same business model which helped the company in growing fast in various markets. Laptops will offer better specifications and performance but will come with low price tag.

We can expect a 15-inch screen laptop with Linux OS in the start.

Gigmochina also posted images on specifications of a laptop which appeared to be of Xiaomi. If we trust on this report, Xiaomi’s first laptop will come with the 15-inch screen, Intel Core i7-4500U chip, 1 TB HDD, and two 8GB RAM modules taking the total RAM to 16GB. It is expected to be priced at only $499 (around Rs 32,000).

If These reports are true, it will add pressure on HP, Lenovo and Dell to reduce the price of their existing laptops. We have already seen that Xiaomi like the new entry in the market can hurt existing rivals if they offer high-quality products at low cost.

Xiaomi declined to comment on these rumours. We will update you once we have more information about Xiaomi’s laptop.
