At Google I/O conference, Google unveiled project Soli for wearable devices. It aims to offer touchless controller for wearable devices. It users radars to track human operations and sends input to device based on motion it detected.
Project Soli is actually a small radar chip which can easily be embedded in wearable devices. This radar picks up your moments and transmits it as input to device. It also has the ability to detect incredibly fine motions accurately. This will make wearable smaller because no actual touch will be needed to perform action.
For app developers, an API will be provided. So, they can integrate different kind of signals for operations in apps.
The project is in its early stages but it is really interesting. This is the reason it attracted too much crowd at Google I/O.
