Facebook launched its new Facebook page called FB Techwire for breaking tech news, debates and other events. This page will be powered by Storyful which will share newsworthy content from tech influencers on Facebook. This page will publish stories which can be embedded into news stories. Stories will also be available on Twiter @FBTechwire.

With this page, Facebook wants to grab attention of journalists who usually use Twitter for breaking news. Facebook is missing the opportunities to grab the crowd against real-time events. People generally prefer Twitter for this. To narrow this gap, Facebook also added hashtag system and trending topics section. But Twitter is keep on growing with same pace. So, Facebook now wants to grab the tech news readers and journalists with this new page.

Facebook has more number of active users than Twitter. So, it is obvious that it has more news. but unlike twitter, people find it hard to get news from outside their network. This is why Facebook is trying to make a single place to get all the tech related news. Tech related news is one of the most discussed thing on social media. Twitter disclosed that people tweet around 554 million tech-related tweets per month on Twitter. So, we can see how important this topic is for grabbing croud.
