Dropbox acquires reading platform Readmill

Dropbox has Acquired three years old startup Readmill. It is pure acqui-hire and Readmill team will join Dropbox. Readmill has confirmed the deal and announced that it is no longer taking new registrations. App will not be available after 1 July 2014.

“As of today, it is no longer possible to create a new account, and on July 1, 2014, the Readmill app will no longer be available. For the next three months, our first priority is to help you transition to other services and get back to reading. All of your books and reading data are available for export in multiple formats,” Readmill announced

Readmill is a Berlin-based startup which owns a social reading platform. App is available for both Android and iOS. The app was well designed and lets you read and share books with your friends. With the announcement of the deal, company has als confirmed that you can export your data in multiple formats.

According to Techcrunch, deal is around $8 million and most of this is in stock.
