Yahoo has made another acquisition of the year. It has acquired Cloud Party, browser based game creation engine. Cloud Party also confirmed this via a blog post. Cloud Party will shut down on February 21, 2014.

Cloud Party provides a browser based gaming platform to enjoy multiplayer and 3D games. Players can build their own worlds and avatars in the game. Company was launched back in 2011.

“We’re excited to announce that the time has come for the Cloud Party team to start our next adventure. We are joining Yahoo! The last two years have been an incredible experience for everyone here. We’ve been continually amazed by your creativity and the worlds you’ve built and shared with us,” Cloud Party wrote in blog.

This deal is another “acqui-hire” for Yahoo. Cloud Party team will join Yahoo. It is not clear what they will work within Yahoo. Yahoo owns game portal but it is not related to browser based gaming. It is worth to note that Cloud Party games work in browser without any plugins.

Cloud Party has also added export tool to let users export their content. Follow this guide to read how to export data from Cloud Party.

Back in May 2013, Yahoo also acquired gaming infrastructure startup PlayerScale. PlayScale builds bones for cross platform gaming and had more than 150 million players world wide at the time of the deal with Yahoo.
